Yeah, very talented. Different voice but she reminds me a bit of Alison Krauss style wise.

    Paul Gilbert has Guitars Stolen...

I'm in favor of Old West Justice for guitar thieves. We should hang 'em just like a horse thief.

    Hi to all from Ukraine!

The caveat when buying through Amazon is to check on who the seller is since many less than reputable sources market via Amazon. If it's bought and shipped by Amazon or a known source it's the real thing. If sold and shipped by a 3rd party it may not be.

    All Things Funny...

On a sunny Sunday morning in a quiet country church in a flash of fire and brimstone the devil suddenly appears. The preacher who had just finished his sermon on the temptations of Satan drops to his knees praying to God. The congregation fearing the devil and eternal damnation flees out of...

    Warming up

Warm ups, always, on both guitar and bass. Since I'm always picking up a different instrument with a different neck profile I feel it takes time to get comfortable with it again.

    Monel Strings

The Tak has a layered walnut body and is fairly bright so I'm not losing all that much high end. Don't know that I'll keep them on but since I had a set I figured why not try 'em.

    Monel Strings

I've had a 11-48 set of these from Curt Mangan sitting around forever and thought I'd try them on my Takamine. They're not as bright as the 80/20 varieties I normally use and I was wondering if anyone else has had some experience with them either on an acoustic or an electric? Just looking for...

    Strings: D'Addario NYXL Medium 11-49

I've never tried them but IME the Curt Mangan strings I use feel like they bend at little easier and last a little longer so they may very well be the equivalent of the NYXLs.

    Stratocasters of the 1950's

I've owned just two Strats in my entire life. A '67 sunburst and my current Robert Cray model hardtail. I've never favored them over my Teles.

Thin neck or baseball bat neck?

Soft "V" with some depth and a fairly standard 43 mm nut width. The Gibson/Epi '50s rounded "C" works well for me too. So thicker/fatter profiles.

    All Things Funny...

A 75 year old man went to his doctors office where the doc asked him for a sperm sample as part of his physical exam. The doctor gave him a jar to use and told the man to bring it back the next day. The man returned with the empty jar and explained first I tried with my right hand, then I...

    Electric Guitar String Brands

I guess we don't have it so bad then compared to some countries.

What is your favorite fat neck ?

One would be the neck on a Fender Classic Player Baja Telecaster and another would be the '50s Gibson/Epiphone Les Paul necks.

    My philosophy for guitars

Yup, and like I always say "I don't play the headstock" so I care very little for whose name is on it. My first exposure to imports was a pair of Chinese built Squier Classic Vibes I bought used for less than $300 each. I felt they were of better quality than Mexican built Fenders that sold...

    My philosophy for guitars

Over all the years of gigging I tended to have more costly guitars and basses including a $3k Fender Custom Shop Nocaster. One reason why is the quality of top of the line Fender or Gibson gear was much better than their import equivalents and if I wanted to move something brand names were...
