    Brian May Replica Maintenance

Yeah, Dr/Sir/Guitar God Brian May is a gift to humanity in so many ways. Animal rights activist too. And yet he presents as just a quiet, normal guy. I love that about him. The man’s music has saved my life many times. His whole band were geniuses. Kid’s in high school used to tease me...

    Brian May Replica Maintenance

Well after over decades had a buzz. I had to tap one fret down and shift the truss rod. It’s weird. It needs a stubby 6mm Allen key.

How many guitars is too many?

I don’t know. I’m now down to 16, but will be having a few more coming next year. I will be adding three more, and then I think I will be good. I want to build a Brad Gillis replica next year as well. The three on my list will be a Squier CV Tele, a Gibson SG Special and a Gibson LP...

Stop Tailpiece Replacement - Which material would you prefer?

Every application that I’ve seen aluminum vs zinc used, the aluminum held up better and lasted longer in both firearms and guitars. The Gibson tailpieces are aluminum IIRC.

“The country a guitar is made in does not matter much”

Well the one thing I’ve noticed with the new Epi’s is that they do have lesser quality metals on their bridges. I’ve had 2 failures on the IBG’s. But I did get prompt replacements from customer service. The plating seems to be better on Gibson’s US offerings, and the fretwork usually needs...

US Custom Officers seize 3000 counterfeit Gibson Guitars

Good. This takes advantage of unknowing consumers. There is a Facebook group for Chibson owners that encourages this sort of illegal activity. I’m surprised Gibson hasn’t sued.

    Brian May Replica Maintenance

If you ever get one of these, be ready to do all the work on it yourself as nobody locally or even in your state will have any idea of how to work on it. If any body does get a proper replica like mine, or a Guyton replica, they really owe it to themselves to buy Brian May’s book about the...

“The country a guitar is made in does not matter much”

I am going to get a Tele next year. It will probably be a CV 50’s. I just did a setup on one for a forum member, and I was impressed with it over all after polishing the frets and setting it up. It had the sound and playability that I am wanting, has the look of the AVII 51 with bigger...

    Brian May Replica Maintenance

Well, I thought I would post this here as I know you guys probably haven’t seen inside of a real one before. If you break a string on one of these during a performance you’re basically screwed, as you have to disassemble the bar and remove the cover to change the string. You would also have to...

What have you purchased guitar-related in the last 48 hours?

Great prices on those strings. I am getting ready to place another big electric strings order.
