What have you purchased guitar-related in the last 48 hours?

Ordered a Seymour Duncan Antiquity bridge pickup for the new Les Paul. It currently has an Antiquity neck and Seth Lover bridge pickup so the Seth Lover is coming out and it'll go into another guitar. Free overnight shipping means it'll be here tomorrow!

Got that installed and all I can say is I'm done looking for pickups. This bridge pickup is exactly what I was looking for. It's actually usable for anything, IMO. Lead. Rhythm. Whatever. I can't say the same for the Seth Lover or the 59 bridge pickups in my other guitars.

The aged magnet really mellows it out and smooths out all the peakiness, for lack of a better word. I could tell from the first note that this is exactly what I've been wanting without knowing it. I love the way it sounds. And here I was not expecting to be able to tell a difference between it and the Seth Lover it replaced.

Nuttin' I'm actually thinking about listing one of my basses for sale on FB Marketplace and CL. I could ship it but prefer not to. Shipping costs have become outrageous even via discount shippers.

Great prices on those strings. I am getting ready to place another big electric strings order.

I can hear something in the treble freqs that requires judicious dialing out:
Lindy Fralin HC90

It sounds good, but I ordered a standard P-90 from him to replace it anyway.
Having a hidden coil takes something away I can’t quite put my finger on, but can hear.
$125.
Again, not a bad sounding pickup at all. Just not what I’m used to

Interesting since I believe Fralin P90s are the best I've ever heard. So the noiseless version didn't do it eh?

Well, at least not in the neck position as 5% underwound in this particular guitar.
Initially fine, but as I lived with it a while I started noticing I was trying to dial out a bit of “fragile” high end.
I asked if there was any problem shunting off the dummy coil.
Turns out they just reverse direction at some point on the main coil without a separate coil scheme.
So they’re making a standard P-90 for me.

So no dummy coil at all? That's a different approach.

It works. Does what they say. Sounds like a P-90 and all, but.
I’m a geezer with too much time on my hands.
If there’s one thing I’m sure about: it’s my opinions!
We geezers have lots of opinions. Comes from having so many years collecting them. ;)
