What have you purchased guitar-related in the last 48 hours?

Gibson Les Paul Studio, "new" model, in Cherry Sunburst. "New", because according to the serial number, run against two different serial number decoders, it has been manufactured in June 2021. Ordered online with a 30 day money back guarantee, and just out of curiosity whether it is worth compared to my Epiphone Les Paul in terms of playability et cetera. It didn't take me all of an hour to decide it isn't worth and re-box it.

Which Epi do you have?

This one:

The colour of the finish is actually a lot more beautiful than in the pictures. I have replaced the pickups for Epiphone ProBuckers, original ones ordered from Epiphone, which are more to my liking than the Alnico Classic Pro that it came with.

I can see why you might choose the Epi over the low end Gibson. Especially if it plays as good as it looks. 👍 I want a Heritage Cherry Sunburst guitar big time. A Factory Burst? came up for sale the other day but I got outbid on it.

The guy ended up getting it for around $450 with 3 scratches on the edge of it. It was NICE. At that price, those scratches theoretically disappear lol

Thanks, but bear in mind that even though the Les Paul Studio may be considered as being on the "low and", the Gibson and the Epiphone are still $1200 apart from each other. And if the difference essentially boils down to having a headstock reading "Gibson" on the front side and "Made in USA" on the rear side, I guess I'll find better ways of spending such amounts of money.

Ordered a Joyo active ABY pedal. It has 2 fx loops built into it, as well. So it ought to be interesting getting it to work.
Also ordered two Mallory 150 caps at 0.033uf each. They didn't have any 0.015uf caps so I'll probably run these two in series to get almost 0.015uf.

I think that's it for now.

Bought myself a second hand "Staytrem" bridge for my Jaguar. Managed to get it for £10 more than if was prepared to wait forever, and I mean like forever for a new one. Some folks price gouge for 2nd hand staytrem parts because of this. Seen some ridiculous prices going on, so not bad for £85 all in.

It's got a lot of features going for it and it'll compliment the Staytrem arm already installed. Looking forward to more stable tuning without losing the rocking motion. When properly set up the Jag/Jazz trem is the best ever. 🙂👍

A Pure Tone Mono Output Jack Nickel:

I put them in all of my guitars. It turns out Switchcraft has a jack that's built in a similar way that you can basically use for the same purpose but I haven't tried it. It wasn't built for that purpose but you can jumper the connections and make it work like a Pure Tone jack.

Just ordered some neon pink strings for my niece. She has a black Squier Mini Strat so I figure these will look great on it lol. I started to order the $6 neon pink guitar strap from D'addario to go with it but I may wait and get that for Christmas along with a neon pink cable from Fender. She has a strap currently so she won't be without.

Ordered some M69 vintage-style pickup rings from Philadelphia Luthier Tools. I have a feeling they aren't going to be a direct replacement for the Epi rings. The closest I've found are Hosco pickup rings but they're still around 2mm too short at 11.x mm for the tall ring. Going to try these anyway.

And I'm trying to decide if I should order a Seymour Duncan Antiquity bridge humbucker to go with the Antiquity neck in my Les Paul. It currently has a Seth Lover in the bridge so it won't be a huge change if I do. That shiny bridge pickup cover looks out of place when the bridge & tailpiece are both aged nickel and so is the neck pickup. Plus the finish on the guitar itself is Aged Dark Burst so it's not glossy, either.

Well, I almost ordered a Gibson SG Special. But I was good, and held off because there may be some deals to be had when the rest of America is panic buying certain items between now and the end of the year instead of buying guitars. If anybody sees any 20% or more off coupons at the big box music stores, or any killer sales on Gibson, please let me know.
