Warren Haynes - Million Voices Whisper

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. Warren Haynes is one of my all-time heroes when it comes to guitar playing. I was fortunate to have the chance to see him playing live at a concert in Cologne, Germany, back in 1991, along with ABB, when Dickey was still around. It was just mind blowing.

Warren is just one of those people combining it all, feel, soul, and performance, no matter what he plays and which ever context he plays it in.

As an anecdote, I remember reading an interview with Dickey Betts where he said that, when he started suggesting taking Warren onto ABB to Greg Allman, Greg said "this guy is gonna blow you off this stage", and to which Dickey replied "I know".

Once again, thank you so much.

HUGE fan here too as well. I lost track of all the times I've seen him with the Allmans, Mule, and solo.

A big inspiration on my playing for sure.

It is just too bad that we don't get so many chances seeing those people playing live over here in Europe. Rest assured that I don't envy you enjoying it.

That right there. The Brothers have always been known to have THE very best players in the industry on their stage. Duane & Dickey were the beginning of it all.

Then Dickey & Dan
Dickey & Derek
Dickey & Warren
Derek & Warren
And all of the other Brothers that played for 1 show or 50 shows. Zakk Wylde. David Grissom. Etc...

Not sure there's another band that comes close to the caliber of players they had. Most bands might get 1 or 2 if they're lucky. Not 6 or more.

I'm still shocked at how far ABB's reach extends into music today. Again, I doubt there's another band that comes close to the amount of people who are directly related to the band that play music professionally. Gregg's kids Layla & Devon, Dickeys boy, Butch's kids Vaylar & Melody & nephew Derek, Berrys son, Berry & grandson, Shaun.

And that's just scratching the surface. I can't remember all the names I came up with the first time I thought about this but it must have been like 16 - 20. And those were all off the top of my head. Anyway. How many family members of Skynyrd are professional musicians? Or any band for that matter?

I don't see many bands holding a candle to how far and wide their reach is.

Warren is right there with Buckethead & Derek Trucks as my favorite living guitar players. My favorite, period, is Duane Allman. To me, no one else comes close. And no, it's not just because I share middle names with one Howard Duane Allman lol
