To wah or not to wah?

and not overdone.
define "overdone"

Some might say that Voodoo Child (that'd be one of Hendrix's signature pieces young-uns) is a bit overdone and yet...

That song defines Wah to an entire generation. Even to third chair youth symphony cellists...(who completely freaked out his parents by slipping a microphone inside his cello and plugging it into a Wah and a fender Vibro Champ.)

Overdone meaning every single guitar solo or using it as a crutch to hide someones sloppy playing

That would apply to every effect everywhere

i would say that "sloppy playing" is a stand alone. It is its own reward. There simply isn't an effect that corrects inability. But then ...

such is the distinction between a musician and ... not.

I use one live, sparingly... Maybe on 3-4 songs (just the solos) over a 3 set gig.

I've tried a LOT of different wah pedals, from Dunlop stock to boutique.

Best one I've found, and am never switching out, is the stock BMF Wah. Its such a great pedal!
