What did you do to your guitar today?

Pulled down the 12 the other day. Strings had turned to crap. And the whole thing was dusty as could be. Dry fretboard.

I put together a hybrid set of strings, 8s. All flatwounds.
Fretboard. Before on the right. After on the left.

Replaced the cheap ass mustang bridge on my Squier Jaguar with a 9.5 radius Staytrem bridge. What a difference in terms of tuning stability and sustain which has vastly changed the sound. Loving it! Made in the UK as well. Took us Brits to sort out Leo's crappy American design. 🙂👍20241025_191617.jpg

It’s actually the screw. I got it sorted and I have a few extra parts now. It’s intimated and I won’t have tobother it again. The factory bridge is just cheap. I put NYXL 11-56 on it.

If I buy cheap or mid priced guitars now I normally replace all of the crappy alloy screws for hardened stainless steel. Especially for trrem parts or machine heads. 🙂👍

Yeah, I got it fixed now and was playing it earlier. Those screws are pot metal or something. If It happens again, I will get a better bridge.
 
Well not my guitar, but my son’s. He was over in Germany for 2 years. He had 3 guitars with him. I just finished cleaning the gunk off his Strat and I set it up. It looks pretty good now. He had no AC during the summers, and just had small wall heaters in the winter time.

I had to scrub his fretboard 3 times and I polished the frets. All of the fasteners were loose. Every screw and the nuts on the tuners were loose. This was the first time that his fretboard was oiled since I gave it to him 6 years ago. I had to scrub the rosewood fretboard with a toothbrush. There was so much gunk on it.
 
Removed the pickguard in preparation for some new vintage-style cream pickup rings I ordered from Philadelphia Luthier Tools.

Im pretty sure they won't fit correctly but I'm going to give them a shot anyway.
