Well, I’ve been sick the last couple of days. This arrived today, just in time to make me feel a little better. This is my first Casino.

It’s actually pretty good. I’m surprised. No uneven or pokey frets. Action was pretty good out of the box. I tweaked the action, truss rod and string lengths. I will strobe it tomorrow.

I will send the Casino or my Gretsch 5210 P90 home with my son in a couple of weeks. Not sure yet, but the Gretsch will be a little easier for my son to deal with.

I actually played it a bit. On the neck pickup, I can get that Spirit in the Sky sound. I think I will send this home with my son and maybe I will get myself another next month after my son leaves back for Oklahoma.

I've got a case for this one, and it will survive the trip better than the Gretsch. Besides my son doesn't have a hollowbody or anything with P90's. The neck is really slim like his Gibson LP Studio, so he should like it.

I'm going to take it to my mom's tomorrow in the box and we will wrap it up. His birthday was yesterday. He should be back home on the 10th.

My son won't be able to come back home for another year after August because of work, so he will miss Christmas and his next birthday.

He's taking his last Christmas and birthday guitars with him, this one for his birthday yesterday, and a Fender acoustic/electric for Christmas this year, and a minty Gibson SG Standard with him for his birthday next year.

I've got a case that fits the Casino and will fit a Gretsch Hollowbody. Then he will already have a case that fits it, and will fit a Gretsch when I send him one for Christmas next year. He starts the police academy in November.

Your son is a lucky man. My Pop did buy me my very first bass back in 1965. It was a $35 used Silvertone Dolphin Bass with a single lipstick pickup. All the rest of my gear after that was on me but I will always give him credit for giving me the opportunity to become a player.

Casinos are such unique guitars. With that hollow body and the dog ear P90s nothing else sounds exactly like one. Is that one of the "Worn" versions? I'm finding that I miss my Casino since I sold it and the Olive Drab "Worn" version has my interest. I didn't think I'd miss it as much as I do but I'm happy it went to a young guy whose just learning to play. He got a great deal on a really nice guitar and case.

Well, as it turned out that I couldn't send any guitars home with my son, I've learned to really like the Casino. I've had it for just over a month now.

As I came to like it, I was kinda thinking that maybe I should have got a gloss finish model, but again As time has gone by a little bit, I'm glad I got the finish that I did.

It looks really good from a few feet away, as if it's just a solid blue guitar. Up close you can see the grain through it.

The neck is starting to get smoothed out just from the short amount of time I've been playing it. The neck is also quite slim, with just a bit of shoulder to it. Turns out it's a keeper.

That's a sweet Epi. It's too bad your son wasn't able to take it back with him, but it looks like you have another winner to play.
