NAD! 2024 Hot Rod Deluxe!

13 days later and my amp is ready to be picked up! Terence was right on his 2 week estimate. Just like every review said he would be. No charge. All covered under warranty. Can't say enough good things about Slemmons Music Services in Dallas, TX. He even fixed the locator pin on my tube so I didn't have to buy a new matched set of 6L6's.

It didn't fit that well so I didn't feel comfortable gluing it. Terence has decades of experience so I left it to him and he fixed me right up before I left when dropping it off.

One question.

Is it customary to tip your amp tech on warranty work? Like $50 or so? I feel like it's the right thing to do.

Can't wait to go get it. I may go in the morning, tbh. Leave around 7am and get there when they open at 10. I don't want to wait over the weekend lol.

Thanks!

Tipping this guy $50 would absolutely be the right thing to do!!

Went and picked up my amp yesterday(Monday morning). Left around 7am and got there at 930. Got back home around 1.

IT WORKS! WOOHOO!

Turns out that it wasnt the bright and Drive/More Drive switches that were the problem. I figured it probably wasnt but that's all I saw that might have been the issue.

It seems that an op amp went out and had to be replaced. It controls both the bright switch and the drive/more drive channels. Terence had another customer come in so I didn't get to ask him much about it.

I suspect he probably had a idea of what was wrong before he even looked at it. It seems like you should be able to look at the schematic and see what is shared between those 2 things and start checking there. Whatever the case, he got done a day before his quoted timeframe so I'm more than pleased. My 2 year warranty covered everything.

Didn't cost me a penny to get the actual amp fixed. It did cost me gas there and back twice but I don't mind. The Peace of mind in knowing my amp didn't get destroyed in shipping is worth it. And I didn't have to wait an extra week or two for it to get there and back, either. Works for me.

I can't recommend Terence at Slemmons Music Services in Dallas/Deep Ellum, TX enough. Super nice guy. Does great work and he doesn't keep your gear in "amp jail" for 14 months while avoiding your calls and ignoring your emails. He told me 2 weeks and it took 13 days lol. I didn't pay anything but everyone says he has extremely reasonable rates, also.

If you need your gear fixed in Texas, take it to Slemmons Music Services. You won't be disappointed. I'm thoroughly impressed, tbh.
