I think you will like it. The guitar sounds different to me than other p90 guitars. Crank up the distortion or Fuzz and you’ve got that Spirit in the Sky sound on the neck pickup.
Oddly enough I was all about black guitars in the 70s. After I got the Lester, I assembled this thing around 1980. I quite disliked it eventually - too heavy with all of that brass which was the thing to get then. Heavy ash - the thing weighs as much as my Lester.
Did not have a identifiable Strat sound even with the later addition of Seymour Duncan SSL-1s. Those are the Schecter pickups Ritchie Blackmore was using at that time.
A friend up the street had begun spray painting cars. He leaped at the chance to spray it. I just bought the nitro. The stripes were my idea and he pulled them off well enough. He did a fine job.
No more black after this, as I bought a Martin D-16GT in 2003 I fell in love with woodgrain. Transparent finishes from then on.
