I may have poached a couple more beginners from a Reddit Group. I have to do a re string thread for a classical guitar for VladHawk. Is there a way to change the order in which my sticky threads appear in the Beginners section?

Also I’m discovering that a lot of GenZ and Alphas don’t know anything about guitar forums. It’s like the blind leading the blind over at Reddit. They don’t want to admit that we old guys might know a thing or two that they don’t.

Good to see some more active members like @soulman , @Robb and @Eddd over here
hope some more will find their way to this 'peaceful' place

Recently some folks at SQ-Talk are just annoying with their personal attacs hidden in public posts

Vertical Scope has bought 99% of these old-school forums and is running them into the ground with paid posters and bot accounts.

Reddit is basically a bot farm, at this point.

YouTube is really the only guitar-centered online space that isn't totally dead nowadays.

My time on forums is going down for years, while I'm enjoying the growth of my own facebook-group.
Started more than six years ago - now more than 4000 members, some of them I knew even personally
The good thing is, I don't have to spend my time with useless trolls - they get kicked out.....

I think I've spotted some of those accounts at €pi-Talk.....

  • all recently joined,
  • all the same type of avatars,
  • no one of them did a kind of introduction....
  • no one ever posted a picture
  • those accounts never quote or reply directly to post

(tagging @soulman to have a closer look where the IPs are from)

this one even forgot to change the language in one of his posts - LOL

What's really weird is you see this same sort of pattern on guitar forums that are supposedly "independant".. Ostensibly, not owned by a Canadian media conglomerate.

Same sock-puppet accounts. Bots bumping threads. etc, etc

What's bizarre is these sites do not run ads. These tactics are usually done to fake-out the SEO and generate ad revenue ?

Few of us over at Epi-Talk are pleased with the conversions VS has made and their our way or the highway attitude. They're not even honest about the number of members who joined since 2015 when it began. I began posting in 2015 and there has not been 30,000 members join since then. We have fewer active members than most every other forum and I'm it's moderator.

Vertical Scope absorbed Enthused Digital and honestly, things over at The Gear Page were just as bad back in the Enthused Digital days..

You had moderators hiding behind sock-puppets accounts and trolling people, the highest-volume posters didn't even play guitar, lots of scams being run.

I'd say the only thing worse now are the insane amount of ads.
