Gibson fake or not

I have a Gibson les Paul custom that I have had from the 70s it has being gig a lot and looks sad i'm going to sell it and would like to know if it is genuine I have looked on the internet for clues and it all looks good but I do not want deceive anybody any help would be appreciate any help I can put more pic if required

I don't think they made fake Gibson in the 70's.

Yea you are right i always believed it was but i put in on ebay and they took it off i would just like to check if it is

It does look to have had many changes.

I start with the serial number. If I figured it right, it would have been stamped July 17, 1979.

Does this seem accurate?

I can’t read the numbers on the pots. If you want to post them or write them down your self you can double check the dates on these.

hi sorry i cant remember it was a long time ago iam 77 now most of the 60s and 70s is a bit blurred and loved it i have put some pic of the truss rod the pot no 13778 and 71-079 the machine heads have gibson stamped on them

I think your safe that this is Not fake. It definitely has some years on it. That’s a beautiful patina on the binding.

Some irregularities I see.

-The pickups may have been swapped. Or at least the pickup covers removed. This is something some of us do from time to time.

-The bridge doesn’t match the tailpiece. These bridges have a tendency to sag in the middle and need replacing.

-I don’t see any marks on the headstock that may suggest the machines were swapped. I mean to say they look original.

-Same with the pots. I wish I could find specific info but cannot at the moment. They look to me to be from the late 70s.

I found some better info. Looks more certain this is a ‘79.

Serial number indicates this was stamped on the 98th day in 1979. Still 1979.

On the pot, 71-079. This number is Gibson’s ‘in house’ part number.

13778? Is incomplete. Because we can’t see what’s under that blob of resin. But still we know this pot is CTS part number 137. Made in 78. Uncertain as the week. Still. Made in 78. Perfectly suited to be installed in a ‘79 LPC.

Looks like your knobs are correct as well for a 79.

Looks legit to me. I had an 80 LPC with the same tuners too.
