I have a block of wood. Pine. Measures ~ 30"x30"x30" (72cm x 72cm x 72cm). Taken from a storm fall last winter.

Question:
If one wanted to use this for a guitar body would one...

Seal it as it is, in block form, and let it sit for a couple of years before sending it to a mill for sectioning and then to a kiln for drying...
-or-
Section it now, into 6"x30"x30" (15cm x 72cm x 72cm) pieces, seal them and let them sit for a couple of years before sending them to a kiln

Nevermind...
Close inspection revealed the beginning of what might become checking so...

It's been cut into 6" slabs and sealed with wax. Figure it'll be ready for a kiln next summer or fall.

From there it will likely become a t-type... maybe an s-type...maybe one of each depending on how the milling goes.

Beautiful patterns in it. Just the same I'd rather have my tree back.

maybe forgot to mention up coming surgery...next week...my right hand... hopefully the surgeon can repair some of the damage that developed after getting infused with a medication I'm allergic to...
but well, other than that, just sliding slowly into the setting sun!
