One day, while browsing eBay, I found this old red Les Paul guitar for sale. According to the seller, the guitar had been stored in the original owner's attic for over 40 years and resurfaced in 2013 when his siblings were cleaning out the house. Since the family didn’t play music or have any interest in the guitar, they decided to sell it. That's where I came in.

It's an all-original 1953 or early 1954 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop that had its top oversprayed with red, and the neck and back sprayed black. The good news is that the original gold finish is still intact underneath the red overspray, which was flaking off, as evident in the pictures below. The original owner also etched his name and some numbers into the body and base of the neck.

After sharing some pictures with a few vintage Les Paul experts, it was concluded that the guitar is actually a late 1954 or early 1955 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop, based on the wider output jack hole in the cavity.

The guitar was sold to Charles Daughtry after I owned it for a year or so, and eventually, it ended up with Jared James Nichols, who, as many of you know, calls it "Ole Red" for obvious reasons.

Below are some pictures I took when I had it in my possession. I will be adding more from time to time.
