    Needs vs Wants

Agreed, when I tought myself to play guitar after years of playing bass I noticed it was easier to hide behind distortion or effects or even fluffing chords or solos. You always find a way back, however you funk up playing bass you really funk up. There's no hiding there!. 🙂👍

    Needs vs Wants

I love John Deacon but he's not a patch on John Paul Jones, another James Jamerson fan. Lemon song nails it for me. 🙂👍

    Needs vs Wants

I started learning to play bass at 13 on an old Sattelite P Bass copy with flats. I learned from a book called "Standing in the shadows of Mowtown" which came with a cassette tape. I ended up playing James Jamersons bass part on this tune for my final school exam. IMO if you can play like James...

    Needs vs Wants

I love flats. I normally use La Bellas but thought I'd take the plunge on a set of Elites Detroit flats 45-105 for the new Jazz Bass. £30 price as opposed to £60 for the La Bellas. Really well made and don't have have that dead low E string sound that I've experienced with Rotosound flats...

What have you purchased guitar-related in the last 48 hours?

I bought some Elites Detroit Flatwounds for the jazz today for £30. Hopefully they are as good as the La Bellas i've used previously at half the price. 🙂👍

“The country a guitar is made in does not matter much”

I get your point man. I own a Squier VM Jaguar. Paid £230 for it and spent probably another £200 on a Staytrem Arm and Bridge and little bits n' bobs. I love the Jag but would I pay mega bucks for the equivilent Fender model. Hell no, i'd still be having to fix the arm, bridge and neck angle...

Just What No One Asked For....

Will she take a "Wrecking Ball" to "The Wall" approach to recording this said album? Just asking for a friend! 🤣

    New Bass Day

I used to own an early 2009 CIC Classic Vibe 50's Tele. I remember the quality being immense on those early Classic Vibes so when I saw this I thought no brainer. 🙂👍

    New Bass Day

2009 CIC Classic Vibe Jazz purchased on a whim from Reverb as I was needing a full sized bass. Anyhow here she is! Needed a bloody good clean and a setup but plays great. The tone pot seems shot but i'm planning on upgrading the pots and capacitor anyway so no big deal. Frets are good, neck is...

    Gallery - The sold ones

Where to start with the sold ones. Some I regret selling, some I don't.

The Kids Aren't Alright - The Offspring

Played with a bassist for a while that had so much low end going on it really screwed with my digestive system. I s@#t you not! 🤣

What did you do to your guitar today?

If I buy cheap or mid priced guitars now I normally replace all of the crappy alloy screws for hardened stainless steel. Especially for trrem parts or machine heads. 🙂👍

What did you do to your guitar today?

Replaced the cheap ass mustang bridge on my Squier Jaguar with a 9.5 radius Staytrem bridge. What a difference in terms of tuning stability and sustain which has vastly changed the sound. Loving it! Made in the UK as well. Took us Brits to sort out Leo's crappy American design. 🙂👍

What have you purchased guitar-related in the last 48 hours?

Bought myself a second hand "Staytrem" bridge for my Jaguar. Managed to get it for £10 more than if was prepared to wait forever, and I mean like forever for a new one. Some folks price gouge for 2nd hand staytrem parts because of this. Seen some ridiculous prices going on, so not bad for £85...
