How many guitars is too many?

The problem isn't too many guitars, it's that my house is too small.

    Thinking about something different

Mandolin was the first non-guitar instrument I learned, and I still play on occasion. In my opinion, a mandolin is a bit more versatile than banjo (unless you're Bela Fleck...), I like the sound of them much better as well. I've had "A", "F" and flat-top mandolins, as well as open-back and...

    Thinning the herd ?

In the past year and a half we've cut it down from around 40 to 27. Although I've recently finished a "Garoffice" (Garage office) and that provides more room to store more guitars.........

    What was the best ...

The best gigging set-up I ever had was a Traynor Bloc100GT and an Electra X260N- Invicta. Both of which have bee n gone for years. Being young and dumb, I "Had to have a Fender Chorus amp" and got rid of the amp. The guitar I held on to until a couple years ago when I realized I hadn't played it...

    Humble Joyo American Sound

I've had an american sound for quite a while, and for a while, I was using it as a pre-amp and sending it straight to the mixer, no regular amp needed. still pull it out from time to time to play around with.

Got A Spare $17.5K lying around?

Yikes! I think I could find better ways to spend that kind of money, if I had it.

    Where is everybody?

This reminds me of a limerick- " I was here, but now I'm gone. I left this stank to carry on. Those who like me, like me well, those who don't can go to ........"

New Girl Now - Honeymoon Suite

Having grown up listening to the radio in the 80's, for most of the 90's and early 2000's I used to think that all the 80's stuff was just awful. After the last twenty years of general junk, I'll take the 80's all day long.:)

Wraparound bridges ... let's start over and stay focused.

Yeah, I got lucky having had the two epi's and the other lp at the same time ( I knew it would come in handy some day, LOL!) We had close to 40 guitars between us at one time, we've since whittled it down to around 25

Wraparound bridges ... let's start over and stay focused.

At one point, I had an Epi LP special 2- separate stop bar tailpiece, and tuna-maniac bridge, and my wife had an Epi LP special- with a wraparound bridge/tailpiece combo, both were flat slab bodied, bolt neck, with the standard cheapy humbuckers they put in those, and there wasn't much...

    Show Us Your Parts Builds!

My "Less Paul"- Gibson Epoch LP husk from goodwill, Wilkinson bridge, Blacktop Filtertrons from a Gretsch Electromatic Rat Rod, total refret after correcting the wavy fingerboard, shaved the neck down, fresh nut, tuners, electronics, etc. I left the dings and such on the body and gave it a flat...

    Hot peppers?

I used to be able to eat peppers like this when I was younger. No way my internals can handle it nowadays. I still love the flavors, just not the heat. Those are interesting peppers, I'd be curios as to whether they have a nice flavor, or are just pure heat.

    Using Your Ear

+1 Remember that tabs are not always correct, or available, guys on youtube aren't always correct, and even if you can read, sheet music is becoming more and more scarce. Sometimes all you can do is listen on repeat and figure it out on your own.

Who Are The Biggest Influences On Your Guitar Playing?

My Dad, the two guitar players in the band he was in, Rick Bailey and Randy Marcum, George Harrison, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Jim Heath. Although I was surrounded by music, and especially loved the Beatles, when I was very young, I wasn't really interested in learning guitar until I borrowed...

Where do you guys buy your shoes?

I used to get mine mostly at Kohls, I could find good sale prices on Asics, but anymore, they don't have anything in store that's in my size, nothing on sale, and nothing affordable. I started going to Shoe Carnival, and have been pretty satisfied with their prices and selection. I sometimes...

What is the point to a top shelf Epiphone?

Definitely. I've never paid more than $600 for any guitar, with the majority of mine being around $300 although I usually buy used. There are amazing guitars new, all over the place for $200 or so, if you know what to look for and where to look for it.

What is the point to a top shelf Epiphone?

Without going off about unchecked rampant capitalism, it would seem to me that they are going for a middle ground, someone who can't quite justify the expense of a "real" Gibson, but thinks their credit can handle more than a "cheap" Epiphone. My wife's cousin is a guy who swears you cannot find...
