    Monel Strings

I used Gibson “Mona-steel” strings in the sixties on my J-45. When I ran a DeArmond “hole chewer” magnetic pickup in the sound hole it kicked serious butt with those strings. The Martin version nowadays are pale by comparison, acoustic or electric, in my experience.

    Stratocasters of the 1950's

Nice synopsis! Had a few, over the years, but nothing vintage. I think my favorite was an early ‘62 RI iteration. A friend had a genuine ‘67 triburst. Boy, even I could play Third Stone From the Sun on that thing! Amazingly great guitar. I’d like to maybe get a current production ‘54, or EJ...

Thin neck or baseball bat neck?

^^^^^^^^^ What he said! And friend and I did a swap (for keeps) a number of times. Memorable: Gibson Les Paul CS R6. Huge C neck! Loved it. But the guitar itself was pretty inert. He said it worked great in big loud venues. Being just a little fish in a big pond, I never found out. Offed it. (n)

No, we gather around the embers to lie about what great players we used to be. I have a battery Yamaha lunchbox size amp. Suffices for quasi acoustic guitar duties with an electric guitar (electrics have power steering). ;)
