Eminence Red Fang

Oh... I've been reminded to add its wattage....
50 Watts.

That's the maximum wattage it can handle, not the wattage it requires.

I briefly used it in a Deluxe Reverb (23 watts) and the remaining use it received was through a 5 watt amp. It sounded very nice at 5 watts.

looks pretty nice too.

I'll have to remove the cabinet's legs for shipping. (I'm sure you get that the amp isn't included but... figured I should mention it)

Important Note:
I wouldn't recommend using it 1x12 with a 40, or even a 30 watt head. Amps can output substantially greater watts than their "rating". Ratings are continuous output, spikes and peaks can easily more than double that figure...

which would cook a 50 watt speaker.

Isn’t the Red Fang what Chris recommends for the 5e3? And they ain’t making anymore.
That is correct.

Eminence discontinued them after they had gained quite a following, then introduced the Eric Johnson Signature Model with the same specifications...at twice the price.

Which has also disappeared. They have a thing now called the George Alessandro which is sorta like it, though I think they've scooped the mids a bit more with it but that might be my imagination.

Chris was particularly fond of the Red Fang, which is how I heard of them ...
(my DR came back from a tech's shop with a blown speaker following what was supposed to be a checkup. The last item on the invoice was "played the shit out of it! (smiley face)" He did indeed, then refused to take my call. I thought about knee-capping him but settled for letting every player I know in the area in on his business practices)

...I bought this one to hold down the amp while the original was being reconed in California, then switched it out to break in the reconed Oxford. But really I don't play anymore...so they both just sorta hung out looking at each other until I sold the Deluxe a few years ago.

I like it, but I don't play it. Goes with crippled hands. So I figured someone else should break it in.

Ah man.

If I didn’t already have 4 more speakers than I need…
Just remember to store them standing on edge instead of laying flat. Something to do with the magnet and the part called the spider (the part that supports the cone at the magnet) If left flat too long they develop problems that get referred to as ...please excuse my course-ness ... "limp dick syndrome," in some circles. They get flaccid and sound all "flubby."

Oh shit. Too late. They’ve been on their faces for a few years now. Brand new. Two Blues, a V30 and a GSH 1230 (used.) Damn that’s a lot o money. I thought I was protecting the cone but keeping them face down.

The Blues are going in a cab later this month. We’ll see. Fingers crossed.

Well Shit. Hopefully they didn't get all impotent on your ass.

It was the folks at Eminence that schooled me on storing speakers. You might reach out to Celestion and ask them for their thoughts. If providence has smiled upon you, you're good...if not, there may be something you can do now to mitigate....
