I’m not sure where they are playing tonight. He sent me some video about an hour ago. My son’s Uncle is the drummer. He gets to see them pretty much whenever he wants. He took me to one of their shows a few years ago. I hung out with Brad Gillis after the show for a few hours. We talked about guitars for most of the time. I learned a few things from him that night regarding guitar set up. And I learned a few secrets from him as well. Brad is the coolest, nicest celebrity I’ve ever met. I have only two real guitar influences in my life, and Brad is one of them. He is tied with Brian May in my book.

I’m with @BGood. Fess up the secrets unless you took some blood oath. :D

I was actually just watching some video with Gillis talking about his #1 with the 3rd ever Floyd Rose. My Charvel has a similar bridge designed after the original FRs without the fine tuners but as I don’t have a locking nut I can retune if needed. He swears his doesn’t go out of tune and vis the demo he did that appears to be the case. Monster player as was Watson who was the first player I can recall doing the 8 finger thing.

Well, it can be done without the fine tuners with a locking nut. That is just one of his sneaky little. A properly cut non locking nut can work as well. Almost the same if you use locking tuners without wraps around the ost, if you can get the break angle right. Those aren’t the secrets I was talking about though. Every good repairman knows how to do these things.

I can’t speak for Brad’s guitar but mine stays remarkably in tune even without the locking nut. My PRS was similar. I’ve played FR guitars for years but I’ve since grown to prefer the feel without the locking nut.
