    Smartphone Zombies

I have an Android Tracfone that I pay $15 a month for. I text, make calls, check my email, and read news. That's about it. No social media, no music, no videos. When I'm at home I actually don't check it sometimes for a couple of days at a pop, being that I hate people and all. 😉 I do the...

Compressors - explain it to me like I'm 5. What are you compressing?

Simple question - are you compressing volume or frequencies when you use a compressor? What exactly is the purpose of the effect?

Are we wanting to pretend that Squiers are good guitars here too? 🤣

True single coil vs. coil split

Never had a guitar with split humbuckers that actually sounded like true single coils, and there is always a huge volume drop off when you tap that coil. If I want a good single coil sound I'm going to use my Strat or Tele. I've actually started rewiring all my guitars to be a pickup selector...

    Gallery - The sold ones

Here's a few I've still got pics of I sold or traded over the past decade or so. Only one I regret trading is the red Hamer - it was pretty much perfect for what it was.

    Show Us Your Parts Builds!

I did half a dozen, only have two left. Gave away the others. First was a budget Tele, second a P-Bass with a GFS body and neck. Both have Toneriders in them, both are super lightweight. The piney is 5 1/2 lbs, the P-Bass is just over 7 lbs, it's got a paulownia body.

    Hot peppers?

We used to do hot peppers in my friend group. Now it just sounds like pointless pain.

Spontaneously Pulled the Trigger on this Guy

Hey everyone, I don't know if any of you have had the chance to "fat out" of an acoustic guitar yet, but a few years ago I noticed that my old Seagull dreadnaught acoustic/electric was rubbing my right arm raw when I was playing it. Ends up it's my fat belly that can't handle a 4" deep acoustic...

Where do you guys buy your shoes?

Online, usually Amazon. Been a size 9 1/2 since high school; never had to send back a pair yet. I do my research and get name brand shoes that are good for my feet and that will last for five years or so.

From my experience bass players usually look weird onstage. I think it's in the job description.

Who Are The Biggest Influences On Your Guitar Playing?

I've got a friend and somehow we always made each other play better, like a yin and a yang. We started out jamming in the '80s we'd play rhythms and then toss around the lead. He's easily my biggest influence; we both went from not knowing what we were doing to whaling over a few years. Still...

    Keanu Reeves P Bass

Funny thing is I saw they're playing here nearby in a few weeks. $17 for a ticket - price almost makes me want to go.

    Keanu Reeves P Bass

Just looked up his band on Youtube and here are a couple of videos. Named Dogstar. Sounds very much like my all-original band back in the '90s - maybe like a high-end garage band. Keaunu just looks like a normal bass player here to me, he's not the star and he doesn't seem to want attention.

Hey, he was Ted "Theodore" Logan you guys, show some respect. :ROFLMAO: I remember he was in some band for a while - Darkstar or Dogstar or something like that. He may be decent. At least I don't see him opening for Limp Biscuit.

Any bass players in the house? Show me your bass thread!

Only thing I take personal responsibility for is my guitar playing, definitely not a serious bass player. I bought my first about 20 years ago to lay down tracks. Ended up playing only bass for two years. Now I just use them for laying down tracks or to rock out at the occasional jam session...

What is the point to a top shelf Epiphone?

It's a marketing change, maybe 20 years from now they're thinking people will think of Epiphone as something other than just Gibson's budget brand. For Boomers and Gen X though I doubt we're ever going to get past that. Having said that I'd rather have a budget Gibson than a decked out...
