Great. Vertical Scope bought Strat Talk. 😮🤦

Whoa. I had no idea. Not sure how I missed all of that, tbh.

Great. Vertical Scope bought Strat Talk. 😮🤦

That's what you think. They have their own mods and Admins that will do what they want. Just watch. TGP already has ads every 2 replies. That's only the beginning. They bought out the biggest drag racing forum, we'll call it YB, on the internet and claimed they wouldn't ever change it. After 2...

    Building a Strat for myself...

It's done for now...until I decide I'm ready to sand it back and refinish it. I'm really enjoying playing it right now. This is seriously probably the best guitar I own now. It sounds killer. It's extremely light. And it plays incredibly well. I never expected this in a million years. It even...

Great. Vertical Scope bought Strat Talk. 😮🤦

You know what Vertical Scope is known for? Buying up forums and KILLING THEM I SHORT ORDER. No one agrees with the things they do so everyone ends up leaving and the forum slows to a crawl because no one visits. The last one I was at, the biggest drag racing forum on the internet, had...

    New Budget Heritage Guitars

OK this is getting confusing. They said the H-137 is the lower level with bolt on necks but here's one for $499 set up like a Les Paul Special with P90s and a set neck and contoured heel. https://deals.bandlab.com/mannys/products/heritage-guitars/8367752511641 Edit: aha. I didn't notice that...

    New Budget Heritage Guitars

Which factories are those? There's probably hundreds, if not thousands of guitar factories in China. You can go to any number of them and get essentially the same guitar. It's just a matter of who/where you want it made. Go look on www.made-in-china.com and www.Alibaba.com and places like those...

The lower range is understandable at the $195 entry price. At $699, the Plus line has no excuse. It uses Mahog and other better materials so I'd expect a set neck also.

I hope the Ascent+ gets a set neck. At $699, it better.

Your 'Weapons of Choice' for today....[pics preferred]

Nice guitars! Since Tech 21 stopped making amps, maybe that thing will be worth a few grand in a couple of years? 🤷 YA never know. It reminds me of the Monoprice Stage Right amps. The 15w tube combo/Laney Cub clone was $249-279 for the last 5-10 years and then in 1 single day, it went from...

Your 'Weapons of Choice' for today....[pics preferred]

Both 90s. Still playing the Sonic Blue Strat. Probably will be for a while. This thing is killer. I got the right cable out for it, too, @BGood 😆😉😁. I'm a firm believer in using these "quiet" cables that go quiet when you unplug. They also don't pop when you plug in. The 90* is a D'addario...

Because I didn't feel like getting another cable out.

*Warning! Novel ahead!* 😆 New pic. Got the jack plate replaced. That was a fiasco. The cable wouldn't go all the way in with it installed. So I took a Dremel with a sanding drum on it and sanded out an area inside the hole to make more room for the jack. Still waiting on the new mint green...

Do you use wall hangers? What kind?

Nope, String Swing is wider. I reused one hole and just drilled another. Since the String Swing is wider than Hercules, the old Hercules hole is hidden behind the String Swing hanger. So I just used one old Hercules hole and drilled 1 new hole . After 3 months, I'm still not used to the String...

Brand new Sonic Blue S I finished painting and putting together today. It currently has Fender Custom Shop Texas Specials, 250k volume, a 500k No load tone pot and a normal 500k tone pot. Gotoh vintage-style 6 in line tuners. CRL 5 way switch. Flamed, 'roasted maple' neck with dark brown...

    Building a Strat for myself...

Wired the pickguard temporarily. It has a 250k volume, 1 500k No load and 1 500k standard tone pot. That's all I had in stock until the 250k's I ordered get here. Tone pots wired to middle and bridge. I need to install tuners, wire the jack and claw ground, and install the claw, bridge and...

    Building a Strat for myself...

Oh yeah. I had ordered a bridge and some different pickups for it previously. It was a Wilkinson 6 point trem with pop-in arm. WOV09 was the model. Turns out it's a 'Wilkinson M-Series' part, which isn't what I wanted. M-Series are from their Chinese plant. I was looking for Japan or wherever...

Did some pre-fitting. I still have to shoot clear coat. It was a little too cool today. Supposed to be in the 70s tomorrow so I'll get started tomorrow. This thing is going to be SICK! I ordered Aged White pickup covers and knobs to go with the aged white pickguard. Same company makes both so I...

    Building a Strat for myself...

That's done. Shaved those drips down until they were gone. Then hit the area with some 400 and 320 grit to blend it all in. I also had a place I had to use some grain filler after sealing yesterday. A chunk of wood came out when I was drilling one of the neck mounting holes. So I filled that...

    Building a Strat for myself...

Well it turns out I have a couple of drips to fix. Round high spots were it dripped straight down. No runs. Maybe 1 slight sag around the top of the neck pocket. So I'm going to wait a week or more and let it harden or whatever it does. Then I'll shave those down and possibly do a final coat to...
