How vintage do you wanna be? Aria Pro II Kight Warrior 80’s vintage Bucket List guitar content

I remember those well. Aria Pro IIs were great in the '80s. Friend still has a Cardinal CS-250 he bought new; plays and sounds awesome - very LP sounding pickups. I've got an '84 SG I got new for Christmas in '84; so 40 years old now. I was thinking that yes, it finally seems like a vintage...

Thin neck or baseball bat neck?

I started out with shredders in the '80s, so it's thin and fast for me.

What guitars do you want more of?

I put a MIM Strat out for trade last year and a guy called with a PRS SE Custom 24-08. Man is it a great guitar.

What guitars do you have enough of?

The result of lockdown GAS: Two SGs Two LPs Two Teles One Strat Four PRS One Schecter shredder I had another PRS but I recently gave it to my grandson. For now I'm actually feeling pretty content. Feeling done with amps too. Now I'm gonna play with my toys.

What is your favorite fat neck ?

Fat neck for me is my biggest no go for a guitar. Feel the neck, if it's fat there's no point in looking any further. Sales guys don't get it too - I'll be like "nah, this isn't going to work" and they'll be trying to talk about the rest of the guitar.

What guitars do you want more of?

I'm more of a "one of each" type of guitar owner. At the moment I don't have a semi-hollow or hollow body and it kinda feels like a gap in the stable.

    Electric Guitar String Brands

I get GHS, D'Addario, or Ernie Ball in those 12-packs, .09s across the board on all my electrics - it's just easier that way. I'll buy whichever brand I can get for the lowest price. I've done expensive fancy strings, and they can feel better and last a bit longer, but I'm restringing at least...

To Floyd or not to Floyd?

Nah, it was all word of mouth or maybe something from your music teacher if you had one. About half of it was bad advice. Up into the '90s I just figured some guitars were magical feeling and the rest weren't. Never heard of a "set up" until the internet was up and running; then it all clicked...

To Floyd or not to Floyd?

Metalhead here. I've probably had a dozen shredders with locking trems over the years. I recently got into Strats and now I've got a few PRSs as well and I can pretty much do as much wanking as I want on the bars and the guitars don't go out of tune, and no locks at the nut. To me now a FR is...

Advice buying a vintage fender (Amp reverb or pedal reverb?)

IMO half the point of getting a vintage Fender tube amp is for the godlike spring reverb. Buying a Fender without reverb is like buying a Mesa without distortion.

    My philosophy for guitars

When I was a gigging guy I always brought three to gigs because one time I brought two, had strings snap on both, and ended up changing a string in front of a crowd of people onstage. You remember that scene when time slows down in Saving Private Ryan on Omaha Beach? That was me changing a...
