I agree. Part of what keeps those guitars inexpensive IS the lower quality electronics and hardware. Personally, I have no problem installing $600+ worth of parts on my $250 guitar. Had they been installed at the factory, it definitely wouldn't have been a $250 guitar, still. That's part of what...
I agree. My guitars are phenomenal. I didn't pay more than $300 for any of them. I guarantee if they were built to this level of quality in the US, they'd be $1200-$1500 easily. Probably even more than that. Every Indio guitar I've ever ordered from Monoprice came to me almost perfect out of the...
I've thought about buying a bass but I'm not sure I'd get on with it, tbh. I really like lead guitar so I'm not so sure I'd be satisfied playing bass. I guess I could be like Berry Oakley and treat it like it's just a big guitar lol
Did you get in on the sale Amazon had the other day? 3 packs of 9.5 to 44 for $6.99 each? I ordered 3 packs and 2 of them came in today. Waiting on the 3rd. I don't normally use these but I figured they'd be OK for $2.33/ pack lol
Had the P90 Goldtop out to play and do a repair on. When I bought it, the lower strap button had been pushed in, leaving a depression in the wood and cracking the finish. I never worried about it because it's under the strap and strap button so I never see it. The depression was around 6-7mm...
Stewmac is having their Black Friday sale so I picked up a few things. Their original Z files with the handle are 50% off right now. $52 instead of $105 so I bought a standard Z file. I already have a compact "centered Z file" so I went for the offset original...
Got that installed and all I can say is I'm done looking for pickups. This bridge pickup is exactly what I was looking for. It's actually usable for anything, IMO. Lead. Rhythm. Whatever. I can't say the same for the Seth Lover or the 59 bridge pickups in my other guitars.
The aged magnet...
Ordered a Seymour Duncan Antiquity bridge pickup for the new Les Paul. It currently has an Antiquity neck and Seth Lover bridge pickup so the Seth Lover is coming out and it'll go into another guitar. Free overnight shipping means it'll be here tomorrow!
I'm pretty sure my next amp will be a Marshall. I almost bought one instead of the Hot Rod Deluxe but I wanted a Fender with a good clean channel. So I bought the Fender. One thing that turned me away was seeing the "normal issues" with whatever I was looking at. Origin 20, maybe? I don't...
A month later and I've really grown to like this amp in it's current form with a 12AY7 in V1 and a 12AT7 in V3. It really is a totally different amp. So much more usable. I rarely play my Monoprice amp these days. If I do, it's only for a few minutes while the Hot Rod warms up. Or it's in stereo...
Removed the pickguard in preparation for some new vintage-style cream pickup rings I ordered from Philadelphia Luthier Tools.
Im pretty sure they won't fit correctly but I'm going to give them a shot anyway.
I almost bought a really nice Fender 'Squier Series' Strat a couple of days ago for like $175 or so, IIRC. Had I been looking for a Strat, I'd have snatched it up quickly but I'm not so I didn't.
Had to cancel those strings and order some 9s. I accidentally ordered 10s the first time and my niece is like 4' nothing, so 10s would be a little much for her tiny little hands lol.
I got a Wyze smart thermostat the other day and it shows current humidity in the house. You can buy room...
I put them in all of my guitars. It turns out Switchcraft has a jack that's built in a similar way that you can basically use for the same purpose but I haven't tried it. It wasn't built for that purpose but you can jumper the connections and make it work like a Pure Tone jack.
Just ordered...
Ordered a Joyo active ABY pedal. It has 2 fx loops built into it, as well. So it ought to be interesting getting it to work.
Also ordered two Mallory 150 caps at 0.033uf each. They didn't have any 0.015uf caps so I'll probably run these two in series to get almost 0.015uf.
I think that's it...
That's a known issue on amps that don't get much fx loop use. Stuff builds up on the jack plug and the contacts separate, causing no sound. I have silicone/rubber 6.35mm plugs in mine to hopefully keep it from happening.
I'm fairly certain I know exactly what you're talking about. I've also heard it described as more of a cone with the point chopped off vs a cylinder. I thought that might be what you were talking about. Thank you!
