GLUE IT AND SCREW IT.jpg

AFTER YEARS of frustrations, trying to get screws into difficult-to-reach holes (like on a small amp), I think I've come up with a solution worth sharing.

1. I take a bit of glue stick.
2. Put it on the tip of the screwdriver.
3. Put the screw on the screwdriver tip.
4. Pick up the screwdriver, screw and all.

The bit of glue on the screw won't be a bother if you want to take out the screw at a later time. And you can just wipe off the tip of the screwdriver with a cloth or whatever.

Of course, this wouldn't be necessary if the screwdriver was magnetized, but this tip also works with screws that are nonferrous. I think this is a simple solution that works in lots of different applications.

Well...at least it works for me.

Easier is to rub the head of the screwdriver on a magnet, as most screws are made of iron. Your amp's speaker has a nice big one.

Well aware. Thanks...but not the point. What I am suggesting is just another method.

This is quite ingenious for not ferrous screws as well, or if you haven’t got the speaker or a magnet handy. Using a glue stick should be just sticky enough to hold the screw until it starts to thread, then remove the excess.

UPDATE: I now have a set of magnetizer/demagnetizers and I'm using them to magnetize the tips of selected screwdrivers here.
I'll use the magnetized screwdrivers when they're called for...but I've also got the glue stick trick!
